Recovering from System Failure

The loss of a hard drive, even if not disastrous, can be a major inconvenience to your network users and may cost your organization in lost time and money. Procedures for lessening or preventing downtime from single hardware failures should be implemented. Disk configurations that enable this sort of protection are called fault-tolerant configurations.
